Hey! I hope you’re all having a fabulous Sober October so far. I know life is busy, so let’s get on with this week’s email…

AF tip of the week
Remember last week’s email, when the tip was, “think about it one day at a time?”
This month we’re doing something a little different.
I want you to think about the big scary F-word.
I AM FOR REAL - I appreciate you if you got that joke.
We all have different relationships with alcohol. It’s important to figure out what yours is. It can really help you with this whole AF thing.
Here’s my example:
I know that when I drink, I don’t have an off-switch.
Even though there have been times when I had a drink or two, I was never satisfied. There was always a feeling deep within that wanted more. Could I try to moderate and possibly be successful? Sure. But I wasn’t willing to use the amount of brainpower that would entail.
Mental gymnastics is not my sport, OK?
So - the moral of the story is - This AF life had to be a forever thing for me. There was no wavering. No moderating. And once I lived the good life (the AF life) for a little bit, I realized that it was worth it to keep going.
Don’t feel like you have to say, “I’m not drinking forever.” But recognize how you drink and see if sticking with it for the long haul would be worth it for you. And if you’re not sure right now, that’s OK too. Do what feels best for you.

I had a monthly Sober Curator call last weekend while my husband was at the gym. I hopped on the call with little expectations of not being distracted by a child - and was pleasantly surprised when he occupied himself.
Isn’t that how you watch your tablet too? 🤔
